Vehicle Strikes and Injures Pedestrian with Shopping Cart; Scattered Items Cover Roadway

Van Nuys, Los Angeles, CA: A pedestrian with a full shopping cart was struck and injured by a vehicle late Monday night leaving a large spread of various items scattered across the roadway on the 7700 block of Balboa Boulevard in the Van Nuys neighborhood of Los Angeles within the San Fernando Valley.

Around 11:30 p.m., July 18, Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to reports of an auto versus pedestrian collision at the location where one person was found in unknown condition. The person hit is believed to be a transient and was with a cart filled with various items which were spread all over Balboa Boulevard from the impact of the collision. The patient was transported by LAFD to a local hospital.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the location. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident.
