Trash Fire Extends Slightly into Supermarket, Office Building Spared

Panorama City, Los Angeles, CA: The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to an 11:33 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, call for a one-story strip mall with an outside fire impinging on a two-story office building and the strip mall on the 9100 block of North Van Nuys Boulevard in Panorama City.

According to LAFD, firefighters were in the offensive mode battling the flames. At 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, Aug, 2, LAFD declared knockdown.

The first 30 firefighters, prior to the arrival of the additionally requested resources, extinguished the fire in 32 minutes. The fire extended slightly into the Vallarta supermarket within the strip mall but was prevented from extending into the office building, according to LAFD.

There are no injuries reported. Cause of the fire and financial loss to be determined.
