1 Struck by Gunfire During Attempted Armed Robbery

Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, CA: An attempted armed robbery resulted in one man shot Wednesday morning, Aug. 24, at approximately 12:48 a.m. in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The attempted robbery occurred on 3rd near State Street where two unknown suspects approached a driver and passenger sitting in their vehicle. The male, who was in the driver seat, attempted to drive away when they were shot at by the suspects.

The injured driver drove himself and female passenger to the intersection of North Cummings and East 1st streets where they called 911 and asked for help. Los Angeles Police Department Hollenbeck Division officers responded along with Los Angeles Fire Department resources.

The male victim was transported by LAFD paramedics to a local area hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. The female was not injured by gunfire and was released at the scene.

There is no suspect description at this time.
