Lancaster, Los Angeles County, CA: A deputy-involved shooting occurred on Monday, Sept. 5, when a patrol deputy called for assistance after reporting a robbery suspect walking with a gun in his hand on Sierra Highway and Newgrove Street around 9:00 a.m. in the city of Lancaster.

Several Lancaster Station deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the deputy’s assistance call including deputies from nearby Palmdale Station.
At some point during contact with the suspect, a deputy-involved shooting occurred and the suspect was struck at least once. The suspect fell to the ground and refused to surrender his weapon causing a brief standoff.
After a short time, the suspect surrendered his weapon and was provided medical attention by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.
The suspect was transported to a local area hospital in unknown condition.
