Neenach, Los Angeles County, CA: A single-vehicle crash ignited a brush fire in the Neenach community in northwestern Los Angeles County on Sept. 7, 2022.

At approximately 9:01 p.m., California Highway Patrol received a call for a solo-vehicle traffic collision at Three Points Road and Highway 138.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered the vehicle upside down and on fire. The driver was reported to be out of the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene, however, he was detained by Los Angeles County deputies.
Per the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the vehicle fire spread to the vegetation and was holding at 5-acres. Firefighting helicopters were quickly requested to assist with the firefight.
The fire spread to six acres in heavy fuel running uphill with no structures threatened and with the potential of expanding to 20 acres within the hour. The fire was named the “Ranch” fire.
On arrival of the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Helicopter 22, forward progress was stopped, and the fire was contained to three acres.
It was unknown how the driver lost control or if he was taken into custody.
