Residents watched in anticipation as beach waves crashed onto the boardwalk in the peninsula on the 6200 block of East Seaside Walk in the city of Long Beach.

Homeowners placed sandbags in front of their properties in attempt to avoid water from seeping inside the beachfront homes on Friday night.

A resident in the area interviewed by Key News Network at the location said that this is the first time she has seen the water reach the berm, closer to the wall (barrier).

Rain is expected through Saturday morning with possible thunderstorms in some areas.
