CSUN Police Services Notified of Potential Threat of Violence to Campus

Northridge, Los Angeles, CA: California State University Northridge Police Services was notified of a potential threat of violence to the campus on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022.

Students were asked to leave the campus and if a resident, to stay indoors as the threat was investigated.

Events on campus were canceled and evacuated by police services.

Freshman Patrick Lagasbi, interviewed on the CSUN campus, said that he received an email around 5:00 p.m. from the school saying that there has been a threat on campus, like a shooting threat.

The emergency alert sent out by the CSUN Department of Police Services was shared with Key News Network and it stated that they were informed of a potential threat of violence to the CSUN campus made on a private social media account. Police learned that the individual, who is not a CSUN student, was arrested in 2016 for making threats of violence to a local high school.

CSUN Police investigators were working with law enforcement partners to determine the validity of the threat.

CSUN Police stated in the alert there would be a follow up message later in the evening.

There is no further information regarding the incident.
