Detectives Seek Information on Murder of 16-Year-Old

Detectives obtained surveillance footage that captures the suspect and the shooting. LAPD released video.

Los Angeles, CA: Detectives with Los Angeles Police Department Central Bureau Homicide are investigating the murder of Los Angeles resident, 16-year-old Hector Flores.

Police report the shooting occurred on Feb. 2, 2022, around 2:10 p.m. on the 200 block of East 28th Street. Arriving officers found the 16-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the location and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, Flores failed to respond to medical aid was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to LAPD.

During the investigation, detectives obtained surveillance video which captured the suspect and the shooting. The suspect is seen in the video driving up to the location, exiting his vehicle and approaching the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then shoots the victim while he was seated in his vehicle.

The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, shaved head, wearing dark clothing and wearing a face covering. The vehicle used by the suspect is believed to be a 2017-2019 Kia Sportage SUV, metallic blue in color, according to LAPD.
