LAPD Involved in Traffic Collision at Scene of SWAT Standoff with Assault Suspect

Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, CA: The Los Angeles Police Department was dealing with a barricaded assault with a deadly weapon suspect when a vehicle passed the perimeter and crashed into an LAPD officer’s patrol unit holding traffic around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley.

One female was evaluated at the scene and declined transport to a hospital.

Back end damage was visible on the police vehicle as well as damage to the car that drove through the perimeter.

The barricaded suspect gave up peacefully after an hours long standoff which started around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, Oct. 18, and ended around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday.

No officers were injured.
