Sheared Hydrant Floods Arco Gas Station in Sun Valley

Sun Valley, Los Angeles, CA: A sheared fire hydrant flooded a gas station at the southeast corner of Roscoe and the 8300 block Laurel Canyon Boulevard in the Sun Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles around 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to a call of a sheared fire hydrant at the location and found the gushing hydrant spilling water onto the roof of a gas station.

Firefighters searched for the fire hydrant shut off valve and successfully turned off the hydrant with little damage to the gas station.

It is currently unknown what caused the fire hydrant to break.

The Los Angeles Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
