Valencia, Santa Clarita, CA: Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies shot a man armed with knives late Wednesday night, Nov. 16, in the Valencia neighborhood of Santa Clarita.

The shooting took place shortly before 10:30 p.m. inside the heavily wooded Santa Clara Riverbed near the intersection of Island Road and Bridgeport Lane.

According to the sheriff’s department, the male suspect was struck by gunfire and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Santa Clarita deputies encountered a male adult armed with two knives who lunged at the deputies and a deputy-involved shooting occurred, according to the LASD press release regarding the incident.

“Knives were recovered at the scene,” according to the release.

No deputies were injured during this incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
