Pedestrian Killed in Collision with Trailer After Verbal Argument

North Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA: A pedestrian was killed in a collision with a trailer after the driver towing the trailer became involved in a verbal argument with the pedestrian while stopped in traffic. The incident occurred on Monday, Feb. 28, around 3:40 p.m. on northbound Tujunga Avenue in North Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The pedestrian climbed on top of the left wheel well of the trailer. When the truck began to move, the trailer collided with a concrete barrier causing the pedestrian to fall to the ground. The left side wheels of the trailer then collided with the pedestrian, LAPD said in the statement.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the male, 28, deceased at the scene, according to LAPD.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrest has been made at this time.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner identified the pedestrian as Taariq Grant who died from traumatic injuries sustained in the collision. According to Sarah Ardalani with the Coroner’s Office, Grant was pronounced dead in the 11300 block of Riverside Drive in North Hollywood.

Multiple news sources reported Grant was a Los Angeles hip-hop artist and rapper known as Yngx 17.
