Man Shot in Hand While Sleeping in Encampment

Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, CA: A man was shot in the hand while sleeping in a homeless encampment on Wednesday, Mar. 2, at approximately 1:30 a.m.

The park located near the intersection of 4th and Cummings Streets in the Boyle Heights neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles was the location of the early morning shooting.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded along with Los Angeles Fire Department personnel and located the man suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand. LAFD paramedics transported the man to a local hospital.

There is currently no suspect description at this time. LAPD Hollenbeck detectives are handling the investigation.
