Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Crash, Standoff with Suspect in Front of Apartment Complex

Baldwin Park, Los Angeles County, CA: A vehicle pursuit ended when the suspect crashed near the front entrance of an apartment complex in the city of Baldwin Park and proceeded to engage in a standoff with officers around 3:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19.

San Gabriel Police Department units were in pursuit of a black vehicle which led officers through multiple cities for an unknown duration of time.

Eventually, the suspect crashed near the entrance of an apartment complex on the 1500 block of Puente Avenue refusing to exit the vehicle.

The suspect was shot with less lethal rounds to hasten the end of the standoff.

The suspect then stood at the open driver’s side door with officers heard communicating with him when suddenly, the suspect appeared to obey officers’ commands and was taken into custody by San Gabriel PD.

It is unknown at this time why the suspect fled from officers.
