Phelan, San Bernardino County, CA: A vehicle slammed into a convenience store smashing through the storefront and injuring a child inside the location late Saturday night.
San Bernardino County Fire Department received a report of a traffic collision just after 10:00 p.m., Jan. 21, requiring extrication at the Chevron station located on the 3600 block of Wagon Train Road in the community of Phelan.
Upon arriving on scene, firefighters found a 3-year-old child suffering from minor lacerations due to a vehicle that drove into an occupied convenience store.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that the incident is an ongoing investigation but they believe alcohol was a main factor in the collision.
The driver allegedly fled the scene after colliding with the store, and was apprehended not far from the scene after his vehicle broke down.
