Shooting Attempt Thwarted in Alhambra Shortly After Monterey Park Mass Shooting

Alhambra, Los Angeles County, CA: The Monterey Park mass shooting suspect attempted another mass shooting at the Lai Lai Ballroom & Studio located on the 100 block of South Garfield Avenue in the city of Alhambra almost immediately after the Monterey Park mass shooting that left 10 people dead, and 10 injured. The two incidents are related, according to the sheriff’s special bulletin regarding the suspect.

Police information from the scene around 11:30 p.m., Jan. 21, indicated that the male suspect drove to the Alhambra location to attempt another mass shooting. However, citizens inside the building were able to disarm him.

The suspect fled the location southbound on foot without the gun, as the gun was reportedly recovered from the scene.

Detectives and Alhambra Police Department officers, along with investigators from the Monterey mass shooting location, were on scene gathering further information.
