Pursuit Suspect Crash into Commercial Building Involves Fire

La Verne, Los Angeles County, CA: A police pursuit came to an end when the suspect vehicle crashed into a commercial building prompting fire department response early Monday morning, Feb. 13, around 12:43 a.m.

The Covina Police Department was in pursuit of a black vehicle in the city of La Verne for an unknown reason. At some point during the pursuit, the vehicle crashed into a commercial building on the 2100 block of East Arrow Highway and D Street.

After the crash, the suspect took off on foot into a residential area.

The impact of the collision caused the suspect vehicle to catch fire, triggering a sprinkler system response inside the building which helped to keep the flames contained.

The La Verne Fire Department arrived quickly to the scene and extinguished the car fire before it did any further damage to the building.

Covina PD continued to remain on scene to search for the suspect. It is currently unknown if the suspect was located and taken into custody.
