Stevenson Ranch, Los Angeles County, CA: West Ranch High School was locked down and a student was taken into custody during a sheriff’s department investigation into a report of a weapon seen on the campus.
Around 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, units from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the school after administrators received word of a possible weapon observed in a vehicle in the school’s parking lot.
“There have been no threats of violence and no weapon has been brandished at the school site,” said William S. Hart Union High School District Superintendent Mike Kuhlman.
“School staff have fulfilled their commitment to say something when they see something,” he said.
Kuhlman explained the weapon reported was not a firearm.
“We commend school staff and law enforcement for moving efficiently to investigate this issue and confirm that the campus is safe,” Kuhlman said.
The incident remains under investigation.
