California Highway Patrol was dispatched around 8:47 p.m., Feb. 15, to The Old Road south of Parker Road for a rental box truck that had crashed into a ditch. The truck was traveling southbound on the 5 Freeway in the slow lane when it impacted the guardrail into a fence about 200 feet and landed into a 15-foot ditch.

The solo occupant elderly man told Key News Network off-camera that he had closed his eyes for a brief second and felt a jolt and noticed he came off the freeway. He didn’t suffer any injuries and the truck appeared to have only front end damage.

CHP removed the fence link from the roadway as it was a hazard for other drivers.

As of 10:00 p.m., CHP was at the scene waiting for a heavy duty tow truck to remove the box truck from the ditch and tow it away.
