The Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of a traffic collision around 3:00 a.m., Feb. 17.

When units arrived, they found one abandoned vehicle that had struck a telephone pole, causing live wires to spark in trees. Fire was also observed on the ground in a grassy area below the arcing wires.

The telephone pole was toppled and snapped in half, hanging precariously and supported only by overhead wires and cables.

The fire department waited at location for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to respond and address the power line.

Power was out in area for an unknown amount of time.
