Whittier House Fire Leaves 1 Occupant Seriously Burned

Whittier, Los Angeles County, CA: One person was found badly burned and another suffered smoke inhalation from a house fire Monday afternoon in the city of Whittier.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Pico Station received a call of a structure fire around 2:10 p.m., Feb. 20, on the 8100 block of Summerfield Avenue.

Firefighters arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the house with possibly one occupant still inside.

LACoFD was able to remove a seriously burned person from the house and transport the patient to a local hospital. There is no update on the patient’s condition at this time.

The other patient was transported as well with smoke inhalation.

The cause of fire is currently under investigation.
