Carson, Los Angeles County, CA: A multi-vehicle traffic collision involved all lanes of traffic on the 110 Freeway overnight leaving at least one person critically injured and three other patients with various injuries, all in need of medical attention.
California Highway Patrol South Los Angeles officers started receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a multiple vehicle wreck on the southbound 110 Freeway at 223rd Street in the city of Carson area shortly after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.
When authorities arrived on scene, they found multiple vehicles scattered across all lanes of travel. At least one vehicle was flipped over with one person possibly ejected.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics immediately began treating a possible female patient unresponsive in lanes. A female in a car that struck the flipped over vehicle, was possibly pregnant and also transported to a nearby hospital for unknown injuries.
A third female from a silver sedan that collided about 200 feet north of the rollover was transported to the hospital for unknown injuries.
A fourth victim, a male, was assessed at the scene for a possible arm injury. It is unclear if the male was transported or declined transport to a hospital.
All southbound lanes remained closed as of 1:20 a.m. as crews worked to reopen lanes.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
