The Downey Police Department and firefighters responded to the solo vehicle crash on Caring Way just north of Imperial Highway shortly after 1 a.m., Feb. 27.

They located a single vehicle that appeared to be abandoned, into a tree with water gushing onto the vehicle.

The water flowed for at least an hour before water department crews could finally shut off the hydrant.

Water flooded the roadway into the Kaiser Permanente ER, causing police to close off the road completely.
