CHP Stops Vehicle Traveling Wrong Way on 210 Freeway

Upland, San Bernardino County, CA: California Highway Patrol units were able to safely stop a vehicle just after midnight, Friday, Mar. 3, that was traveling in the wrong direction on the 210 Freeway.

The Baldwin Park CHP Office received multiple 911 calls regarding a wrong-way driver traveling eastbound on the 210 Freeway in westbound lanes at Grand Avenue in the city of Covina overnight.

The wrong-way driver continued in the wrong direction on the 210 Freeway into the city of Claremont. The driver was entering the San Bernardino county limits.

Rancho Cucamonga CHP units were able to get into position on the westbound 210 at Mountain Avenue in the city of Upland and initiated a traffic break to stop all westbound traffic.

A Rancho Cucamonga CHP officer spotted the wrong-way driver traveling eastbound in westbound lanes of the 210 and not stopping.

CHP officers rammed the black SUV traveling the wrong way and stopped it, preventing a potential major traffic collision involving other vehicles on the freeway.

The wrong-way driver was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Both CHP officers were checked for injuries by responding firefighters and were cleared at the scene.
