Vehicle Slams into Hydrant in Van Nuys

Van Nuys, Los Angeles, CA: The Los Angeles City Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department responded to a vehicle collision into a fire hydrant around 1:47 a.m. Friday, Mar. 3, in the Van Nuys neighborhood within the San Fernando Valley.

When units arrived at the 7200 block of North Hayvenhurst Avenue, they found one car that had struck a hydrant with water shooting about 50 feet into the sky.

LAFD managed to turn off the hydrant within five minutes of arriving.

LAPD did administer a field sobriety test on the driver.
