1 Found Dead After Apartment Building Blaze

El Monte, Los Angeles County, CA: One person was found dead after a fire ripped through multiple units in an apartment building early Monday morning.

The El Monte Police Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department received multiple 911 calls regarding an apartment building fire on 11400 block of Magnolia Street at Musgrove Avenue in the city of El Monte just after 3:00 a.m., Mar.27.

Once officers and firefighters arrived on scene, they located a two-story apartment complex with multiple units on fire.

Officers and firefighters immediately started evacuating the nearby apartment complex. One person was reported missing.

After a secondary search, firefighters found one person dead on the second floor of the apartment unit.

It is unknown at the time how the fire started.

LACoFD requested Red Cross to respond to assist with families and housing.
