5 Freeway Traffic Collision Involves Multiple Vehicles, SigAlert Issued

Santa Clarita, Los Angeles County, CA: A traffic collision involving as many as 10 vehicles prompted a SigAlert on the 5 Freeway in the area of Santa Clarita late Thursday night.

California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to a multi- vehicle traffic collision on the southbound 5 Freeway just south of Weldon Canyon Road around 10:51 p.m., Mar. 30.

According to information from CHP at the time of the traffic collision, one 64-year-old male and a 70- year-old female were still in a vehicle at the scene, both conscious and breathing.

At 11:18 p.m., CHP issued a SigAlert for the number 1, 2 and 3 lanes for an unknown duration of time due to fluids on the roadway.

One semi truck and nine vehicles were involved, according to initial reports from CHP.

It is unknown at this time how many patients were transported or the conditions of those injured.
