Suspected DUI Driver Plows into Beachside Parked Vehicles and Pedestrians, 1 Killed

Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, CA: A vehicle traveling eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway early Saturday morning collided with several pedestrians leaving one dead, and crashed into multiple vehicles parked along the shoulder of the road overlooking the beach, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m., Apr. 8, at the 17400 block of West Sunset Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood within the Westside region of Los Angeles.

One person was fatally struck and was found down on the beach along with two of the vehicles involved, reported LAFD.

One of the vehicles was located on the rocky hillside terrain and below it was another vehicle, overturned, at the shoreline.

Six patients were transported to the hospital: one in serious condition and five in fair-to-moderate condition, stated LAFD.

One driver was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence.

The Los Angeles Police Department along with the Los Angeles Fire Department and LAFD Urban Search and Rescue personnel responded to the scene. The Los Angeles County Fire Department Lifeguard Rescue also responded.
