Highland Park, Los Angeles, CA: A house fire late Monday night claimed the life of one person in the Highland Park neighborhood within Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the reported fire at around 11:00 p.m. Mar. 14, on the 200 block of South Avenue 52. Upon arrival, firefighters found a one-story single-family home with heavy fire showing with structures threatened on three sides.
LAFD reported the fire claimed the life of at least one person who was found inside and perished in the flames. The deceased has not been identified at this time.
The blaze was fought defensively and LAFD reported the fire extinguished in 40 minutes with 30 firefighters on the scene. All three adjacent structures were successfully defended, according to LAFD.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Arson investigators were requested at the scene and LAPD was notified. LA County Coroner was also notified to respond.
