Detectives Investigate Death of Male Following Dispute

Long Beach, Los Angeles County, CA: A male collapsed and died after a dispute early Monday morning prompting an investigation.

On May 1, at approximately 12:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East 17th Street in the city of Long Beach regarding a male yelling, according to Lt. Steven Costa with the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers discovered a male upon arrival, who had possibly been involved in a dispute with another male adult at the location. Long Beach Fire Department subsequently responded after one of the involved male adults began to have complaints of chest pain, Costa reported.

LBFD rendered aid to the involved male adult before fire department personnel determined the male adult to be deceased at the location, according to Costa. The other involved male adult remained on scene during the investigation.

Additional information from the scene indicated a battery had occurred, with reports of two males involved in an altercation with one yelling for help. An additional caller stated that their roommate was being kicked and struck by another male adult.

Detectives responded and the investigation is ongoing.
