Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle Sustains Major Injuries

Bakersfield, Kern County, CA: A pedestrian sustained major injuries and was subsequently hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle Monday night.

The collision occurred around 8:46 p.m., May 22, on East California Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in the city of Bakersfield.

Bakersfield police officers responded to a call for a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision at the location and found an adult male upon arrival in need of medical attention.

The victim was treated by responding paramedics and transported with major injuries to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and was cooperating with BPD officers. Windshield and front end damage was evident on the vehicle.
