Altercation Turns Violent, 2 Injured

Exposition Park, Los Angeles, CA: Two people were transported to the hospital after an altercation turned violent on Saturday morning in the Exposition Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Around 12:41 a.m., Mar. 19, Los Angeles Police Department Southwest Division received calls regarding a shooting on the 1200 block of West 36th Place with reports that a man had shot his girlfriend inside the residence. The reporting party was the sister of one of the subjects.

Per LAPD radio traffic while responding to the scene, officers also received reports that the male suspect turned the gun on himself.

According to LAPD, a preliminary report of the incident states a male approached a female with a knife in the residence at the location that resulted in an altercation.

During the altercation, the female produced a handgun and fired shots at the male, according to the report.

The male was transported to a local hospital as well as the female in stable conditions by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, according to LAPD.

An unknown age male juvenile was at the location when the shooting occurred, but he was not mentioned in the LAPD preliminary report.
