Burning Palm Trees Set Off Fire Alarms in Nearby Hotels

Downtown Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA: A group of burning palm trees triggered fire alarms in nearby hotels early Wednesday morning.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the area of 6th Street and the 110 Freeway in Downtown Los Angeles around 12:28 a.m., May 31, for reports of multiple palm trees on fire.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find a group of palm trees on fire with smoke blowing to the east setting off fire alarms in nearby hotels.

The LAFD and California Highway Patrol officers had the northbound 6th Street off-ramp closed while crews worked to extinguish the flames.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
