The shooting occurred around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, on the 3300 block of Cahuenga Boulevard in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles.

North Hollywood area patrol officers responded to the location after a radio call for a man down, according to the LAPD.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered an illegal gambling establishment, as well as a security guard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the security guard deceased at scene,” the LAPD news release stated.

Detectives investigating the incident have determined that two armed male suspects wearing ski masks entered the rear entrance of the building and fired weapons. The security guard observed both suspects and removed a pistol from his waist. One suspect pointed his rifle and fired multiple times, striking the security guard. After searching the building for money, both suspects fled out the rear door without any property.
