Sun Valley, Los Angeles, CA: A driver fled the scene of a solo vehicle crash involving a sheared hydrant that sent water gushing at an intersection early Friday morning in the Sun Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched just before 1:00 a.m., June 9, to a traffic collision involving a hydrant at the intersection of West Tuxford Street and North Lankershim Boulevard.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a car that had collided with a hydrant, causing it to break and shoot water into the air.
Los Angeles police officers were on scene investigating the collision and providing traffic support.
The LAFD was able to turn off the water to the hydrant and restore street traffic access.
It is reported that the driver fled the scene on foot. No other vehicles were involved.
