Driver Flees After Crashing Into Hydrant

VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES, June 14 (KNN) — A driver fled on foot after crashing into a hydrant early Wednesday morning.

The single-vehicle crash occurred just after 1 a.m. at the intersection of Vanowen and Sepulveda Boulevard in Van Nuys.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys officers located the hydrant crash while on routine patrol and requested Los Angeles Fire Department resources.

LAFD firefighters hooked their fire engine up to the suspect vehicle and pulled it away from a shut-off valve in the street.

Firefighters were able to shut off the waterflow in approximately 35 minutes. There was a victim evaluated at scene.

It is unknown if he was a passenger in the vehicle or a pedestrian on the sidewalk at the time of the collision. He was not transported to a hospital.
