4 Killed in Fiery Crash Into Sound Barrier on 110 Freeway

VERMONT-SLAUSON, LOS ANGELES, June 15 (KNN) — A single-vehicle collision resulting in fire has ended the lives of four indivuals Thursday night on the 110 Freeway in the Vermont-Slauson area within South Los Angeles.

The collision was reported to the California Highway Patrol at approximately 11:40 p.m. on the southbound 110 Freeway at the Slauson on-ramp.

An Infiniti 4-door sedan was reportedly traveling southbound along the 110 Freeway at approximately Slauson Avenue where the vehicle, for whatever reason, went through the right shoulder embankment and then proceded toward the Slauson Avenue on-ramp to the southbound, where the vehicle then collided into the sound barrier, according to CHP Public Information Officer Roberto Gomez at the scene on camera. The vehicle then became engulfed in flames. Four individuals were found within the vehicle.

Gomez did not say at this point if street racing was possibly involved, but he did state that speed was a factor in the crash. As to why the vehicle crashed, Gomez said that is part of the ongoing investigation.

Los Angeles firefighters responded and extinguished the flames in approximately 10 minutes and further worked to extricate the deceased victims from the vehicle for the arrival of the coroner for further invesigation into the cause of the crash.

California Highway Patrol officers were at scene holding the slow lane and the Slauson on-ramp at the time of the crash.
