Man Armed With Knife Shot by LAPD in Hotel Lobby

LITTLE TOKYO, LOS ANGELES, June 17 (KNN) – A male armed with a knife was shot by Los Angeles police officers in the lobby of a hotel in the Little Tokyo neighborhood within Downtown Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Police Department Central units responded to a call Sunday morning around 3:30 a.m. regarding a male threatening with a knife inside the lobby of the Miyako Hotel Los Angeles in the 300 block of East 1st Street.

When officers arrived on scene, they observed a man with a knife inside the lobby of the hotel. He refused commands given by officers at which time, an officer-involved shooting occurred, according to Commanding Officer Elaine Morales with LAPD Central Division.

Officers fired at least two shots, wounding the the suspect in the arm.

He was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, said Morales.

LAPD Force Investigation Division is handling the investigation. No one was injured at the hotel.
