Amtrak Train Collision With Water Truck Derails 3 Passenger Cars

MOORPARK, CA, June 28 (KNN) — An Amtrak train collided with a water truck late Wednesday morning leaving multiple train cars derailed and some passengers injured.

Ventura County allied agencies responded to a call around 11:19 a.m. regarding a train versus a water truck at a private railroad crossing in the 11100 block of West Los Angeles Avenue.

The northbound Amtrak Coast Starlight 14’s locomotive caught fire and three passenger cars derailed upon impact.

It was reported that 190 passengers were onboard. Only about a dozen passengers were reported to have sustained less than moderate injuries.

The status of the water truck driver is unknown.

There are no further details at this time.
