Firework Mortars Found at Lake View Terrace Brush Fire

LAKE VIEW TERRACE, CA, July 7 (KNN) — Firefighters quickly conrtained a brush fire overnight that appeared to have been triggered by fireworks launched at the location.

The Los Angeles Fire Department along with Los Angeles County firefighters were in unified command as they fought to contain a brush fire that erupted shortly before 12:30 a.m. Friday on the 12700 block of Lopez Canyon Road in Lake View Terrace.

Firefighters arrived to find a quarter-acre of medium to heavy brush burning uphill with light wind. No structures were threatened, according to LAFD.

Shortly before 1 a.m., LAFD reported the first 16 LAFD firefighters along with LACoFD stopped all forward progress of the fire in 28 minutes from the time of alarm.

There were no reported injuries. Crews remained remained at the scene to continue to chase down hot spots in the burned area and strengthen perimeter lines, accoring to LAFD.

Multiple firework mortars were discovered at the location of the brush fire as seen in Key News Network video from the scene.
