Brush Fire Impacts 5 Freeway; Over 1,000 Acres Consumed, 20% Containment

LEBEC, CA, July 8 (KNN) — Multiple fire departments responded to the city of Lebec at Fort Tejon State Park to battle a blaze shortly before 2:30 p.m Friday that is still underway as of Saturday.

The fire was intially contained on private property at Tejon Ranch on Friday. Camera crews were not given access to the property.

Northbound traffic on the 5 Freeway has been pretty well congested since the fire began.

The lead agency in the firefight is Kern County Fire Department with support from Los Angeles County Fire Department and Cal Fire to name a few.

Early Saturday morning, Cal Fire reported the fire at 1,044 acres with 20% containment.

The cause of the fire is under investihation.
