The Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Division officers came across two males down in front of Mendez High School, located along the 1300 block of 1st Street, shortly after 8:45 p.m.

At least one male was shot in the abdomen while another was shot in the leg. Both were transported in unknown conditions to area trauma centers by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

Residents off-camera reported at least six shots heard at the location.

Officers had blocked off all westbound lanes of 1st Street between Anderson Street and South Utah Street until the investigation at the scene was completed.

This incident also caused Metro bus and E-line light rail service to be disrupted through the area, as casings were located close to the rail right of way.

The investigation is ongoing.
