Brush Fire Erupts Near Diamond Ranch High School in Pomona

POMONA, CA, July 13 (KNN) — A brush fire erupted late Thursday afternoon shortly after 4:30 p.m. on a hillside near a high school in Pomona.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to multiple 911 calls of a brush fire above the eastbound 60 Freeway at the Phillips Ranch Drive exit.

Once firefighters arrived on scene, they located a hillside on fire inside a parking lot near the Diamond Ranch High School.

Firefighters were able to achieve knockdown within 45 minutes to an hour of receiving the call, along with the assistance of two L.A. County Fire helicopters.

Firefighters contained the brushfire to one acre as of 5:20 p.m.

It is unknown at the time how the fire started.

Sheriff’s deputies and Pomona police officers were on scene and assisting with traffic control.
