SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES, July 18 (KNN) — A fire erupted inside a commercial business Tuesday night that filled the store with smoke and prompted a call to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The LAFD received a 911 call regarding a fire shortly before 9 p.m. on the 12700 block of North Glenoaks Boulevard – the location of the Big Lots store – in the neighborhood of Sylmar.
Firefighters arrived to find a one-story commercial building with a contents fire in one corner of the business with sprinkler activation, reported the LAFD.
Firefighters discovered burning paper goods that created a moderate amount of smoke inside the store.
The fire was completely extinguished and then firefighters shut down the water to the sprinkler system. Firefighters worked to remove an estimated 1.5 inches of standing water in the back portion of the store to preserve property, according to LAFD spokesperson Margaret Stewart.
There are no further details at this time.
