1 Killed in Violent Solo Vehicle Crash Into Tree

DOWNEY, CA, July 22 (KNN) — A single-vehicle violent crash into a tree early Saturday morning left one person dead at the scene.

The Downey Fire Department and police officers were alerted to a traffic collision involving a tree at approximately 2:48 a.m. on the 8200 block of Imperial Highway in Downey.

Once units arrived, they reported a single vehicle into a tree, not far from a house. The impact of the crash had wrapped the vehicle around the tree.

Firefighters pronounced a victim deceased at the scene. It is not known if any other patients were inside the vehicle.

Downey PD is investigating the crash. Speed appears to be a factor.

Imperial Highway was closed in both directions for an unknown duration.
