El Sereno, Los Angels, CA: A shooting occurred leaving one female dead in the El Sereno neighborhood of Los Angeles on Tuesday night, Mar. 29, 2022. Los Angeles Police Department Hollenbeck Division officers responded to a 10:30 p.m. call reporting a victim shot on an apartment balcony in the 5300 block of Hyde Street.

Upon arrival, officers found one person suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene and determined the person was beyond medical help and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives are investigating a shooting where a young lady has died, said Detective Larry Burcher with LAPD Central Bureau Homicide interviewed at the scene.

Burcher said it is still early in the investigation but they are looking into determining if it is a homicide or accidental shooting. He said detectives are trying to figure out exactly what happened and are in the process of interviewing witnesses.

A female was seen in custody in Key News Network video from the scene, but it was not immediately known how she was related to the incident.

LAPD Officer Cervantes reported around 7:23 a.m. that a possible suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
