Homicide Investigation Underway Into Suspicious Death of Male Found in Condo

LONG BEACH, CA, July 24 (KNN) — A person was found dead in a second story unit of a four-story condominium building in a pool of blood, prompting a crime scene investigation overnight.

Long Beach Fire Department officials responded to the 1700 block of Magnolia Avenue in the downtown area of Long Beach shortly after 9 p.m. Monday regarding a male who was unconscious.

Additional information came from the calling party who stated the person down was covered in blood and their room door was ajar, prompting fire officials to stage outside and await the arrival of police.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male adult victim on the floor inside a residence suffering from injuries to his upper body, according to the Long Beach PD. The victim was determined deceased by the LBFD.

A crime scene photographer and detectives were on scene assisting in the investigation, which is being classified as a “homicide” per the department.

Detectives have determined through preliminary investigation, that the victim was inside his residence when he was assaulted, according to the Long Beach PD. The victim has not been identified.

Two people of interest, a man and a woman, were detained and transported to a nearby police station, though appeared not to be handcuffed.

Coroner officials were also seen arriving at the location. Details are developing, however, the motive for the assault is unknown.

No suspect information is available at this time.
