Family’s Pickup Truck Struck by Gunfire on 57 Freeway

DIAMOND BAR, CA, Aug. 1 (KNN) — A pickup truck with a family inside was struck by gunfire while traveling on the 57 Freeway late Tuesday night.

The pickup truck was traveling southbound on the 57 Freeway from the 60 Freeway in the city of Diamond Bar when the family inside the truck heard gunfire and heard something hit their pickup truck shortly after 11:30 p.m.

The driver of the pickup truck pulled over to a safe area on Pointe Drive in the city of Brea.

Upon exiting the truck, the driver noticed what looked like a bullet had hit the truck. The California Highway Patrol was immediately contacted.

The pickup truck was examined by responding CHP officers at the location of where the driver pulled over.

No one inside the pickup truck was struck by gunfire. The driver of the truck said the suspect’s vehicle continued southbound on the 57 Freeway.

The victims told CHP the suspect’s vehicle looked like a Jeep or SUV.

The truck was then towed for evidence.
