Firefighters Battle Hollywood Hills Brush Fire, Homes Threatened

HOLLYWOOD HILLS WEST, LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5 (KNN) — A slow burning brush fire erupted on steep canyon terrain Saturday afternoon threatening multiple homes in the Hollywood Hills West neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched just after 1 p.m. to the 1600 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard just north of where Hollywood Boulevard intersects Laurel Canyon, and found approximately one acre of moderate to heavy fuels burning slowly uphill under no wind.

As the hillside burned, the LAFD reported four homes were threatened, but due to proper brush clearance in place, firefighters had good defensive space and were able to get water on the fire while defending the homes. There were no evacuation orders in place.

Additional resources on the scene included the Beverly Hills Fire Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the LAFD reported knockdown in just under one hour by a crew of over 90 firefighters on the scene.

No injuries were reported.
