Man with Machete Allegedly Assaults Woman on Bus

Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, CA: A man was in custody Wednesday night after allegedly attacking a woman on a transit bus with a machete.

The incident occurred in the bus lane on the I-10 Freeway just under State Street at 10:55 p.m., Sept. 7, in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The man allegedly assaulted a woman on the bus with a machete and was holding the rest of the passengers hostage. California Highway Patrol East Los Angeles officers responded and were able to take the man and his weapon into custody.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and evaluated the woman who was injured by the suspect.

There were approximately seven people on the bus at the time of the incident. The bus was heading eastbound and stopped in the station on the I-10 Freeway when they called for help.
